It is no wonder that people are so confused about the meaning of “Christmas.” There are so many different beliefs and perceptions of this holiday. We must go to the “feeling from the heart” to find a deeper meaning.
The origin of Christmas
It is interesting to note how many people around the world celebrate this holiday just because it brings family and friends together to celebrate giving. There are some people that believe that Christmas has its roots in paganism and satanism. There has also been some research about what day Jesus was born. Based on the early Christian beliefs, Jesus is the “Reason for the Season.” Jesus may have been born in September and conceived in December.
I would say that both of these life events are equally important as one cannot happen without the other. So, if you drive by a house with “Christmas Lights” shining in September they just might be celebrating the birth of Jesus as they perceive it based on their awareness of research on this subject matter.
Commercial Value of Christmas
The commercial side of “Christmas” is how many retailers survive and measure their profit/loss. During the year items are many times marked up. During the months of November and December, it is common to see sales (items marked down) in the stores.
Interesting that the psychology behind this works as the stores mark up their merchandise. Then, during the other months and then when it appears that the items have been marked down in reality, they are closer to the value. It is easy to get caught up in the shopping frenzy. I know this firsthand as we have a family tradition of going shopping on Black Friday which now begins on Thanksgiving eve. The store decorations appear in some stores as early as October along with the Halloween decorations.
Feelings of the Season
Christmas means many different things to many people. So, we ask ourselves what the Spirit of this season presents and what feelings do we have as we ponder the deeper spiritual meaning of Christmas. We know that the feeling is what causes an expansion of our heart’s electromagnetic field which is the energy and spirit which speaks to the universe, divine source, creator.
Sending Love for the Holidays
We must have the kind of faith in love that everything always works out for the good of all. Then we hold our intentions on a pure heart of compassion and understand our inner spirit of light. When we take time to reflect on giving and enjoying being together during this holiday season of Christmas and New Year’s, we can become examples to others who may feel alone during this time of year.
We reach out to others so that they don’t feel alone and that they feel loved. Because if we really look at the deeper meaning of Christmas it is “being” in a state of love and gratitude and taking the day off work to consider the gift of life and prepare for the New Year 2020 and beyond.
